This page summarizes the current user-facing capabilities described across the Avikal app and feature brief. It is a checklist, not a replacement for the workflow-specific documentation.

Archive Creation

Avikal supports:

  • secure .avk archive creation
  • file and folder packaging
  • multi-file archive sets
  • nested exclusions before archive creation
  • large-file streaming encode
  • adaptive compression for known already-compressed or large incompressible inputs

Secret Protection

Available protection options include:

  • password protection
  • 21-word Hindi or Devanagari keyphrase protection
  • password and keyphrase together
  • optional PQC archive protection
  • embedded PQC storage
  • external .avkkey storage
  • optional .avkkey second password

Users are responsible for preserving every required secret and keyfile.

Decode And Preview

Decode supports:

  • archive inspection through safe public hints
  • password unlock
  • keyphrase unlock
  • external .avkkey unlock
  • embedded PQC unlock
  • archive preview sessions
  • multiple decoded archive tabs
  • save individual files
  • extract all
  • preview cleanup
  • decode cancellation

Preview files are temporary decrypted files unless the user explicitly saves or extracts them.

Rekey

Rekey supports normal password and keyphrase archives when eligible.

It currently does not rekey TimeCapsule archives, PQC-protected archives, or plain archives that do not need secret rotation.

TimeCapsule

TimeCapsule supports:

  • future release locking
  • backend time checks
  • drand public time authority
  • optional Aavrit server-backed authority
  • password and keyphrase protection after release
  • optional PQC protection
  • embedded or external .avkkey storage

Settings And Diagnostics

Settings includes:

  • light, dark, and system theme support
